Mark Davis, ND, FABNG

Committee Chair

Dr. Mark Davis is a clinician-educator with a passion for providing evidence-based, innovative care, focused on treating complex digestive disorders through a comprehensive approach that addresses root causes. As a professor of naturopathic gastroenterology at Sonoran University of Health Sciences, he has pioneered work in fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) and helminthic therapy. He is also the chair of the research committee for the Gastroenterology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, CSO of Athera, LLC and Biome Bridge, LLC, where he leas research and development in vaginal and fecal microbiota transplantation, furthering the field of microbiome therapeutics through evidence-based innovation. He practices via telemedicine in California, the District of Columbia, and Oregon. Practice focus and special interests in IBD and microbiome assessment and interventions.

Carly Polland, ND

Committee Member

Dr. Carly Polland is a clinician and educator with a focus on the microbiome’s role in health and disease and leveraging next generation sequencing in clinical practice. With a background in cellular biology, chemistry and education, she helps patients and practitioners decode the complex intersection of the microbiome with digestive symptoms, hormones and the immune system. She has lectured extensively at naturopathic medical conferences on the use of next generation sequencing in clinical practice. She is Clinical Lead at Biomesight, a wellness platform offering 16S rRNA sequencing of the microbiome. She is also a member of the Editorial Board for the Naturopathic Digest, the official journal of GastroANP.

The GastroANP conducts research in partnership the National University of Natural Medicine Helfgott Research Institute, a professionally independent, non-profit research institute whose mission is to conduct rigorous, high quality, research on the art and science of healing, specifically working to understand natural forms of medicine.
